Guns of The Households :

And we go to war at dawn !

A rather familiar chorus is heard being sung by the nation's mothers and their children. A rhythm of whining, fiery arguments and frustrated bickering as old as time rings day in and day out, varying from home to home  but essentially the same. At first glance, a mother- child argument is …well…loud and messy.. …it’s a power struggle. But if you actually sit down and really observe its is actually intriguing.

Cleverly disguised as just a lot of noise that seems to have no tune, no melody, and no direction; the quarrel of a mother and her child is actually the combined brilliance of Desert Fox and the goddess Athena herself. It is what I like to call the big daddy of social survival. It’s the very basic form of political-social conspiracies in the making. A devilish and ingenious form of warfare.

Knowingly or unknowingly, the obstinate clashes are actually the them figuring out a game plan. Battle tactics, defense manoeuvres, offence ploys, all to use in their every day lives.

Social circles are war fields. The theater of war in question here is one that we witness everyday, from the sidelines of course..a nice safe corner to be precise.

The other day I was about to stomp out of the room in frustration because, well its impossible to watch Two and a Half Men when you've got a middle aged woman arguing with her blossoming boy about the happenings at school. Coming away from the importance of Two and the Half Men….a certain line caught on to me faster than Kolaveri Di ever could :  "HE SAID WHAT?!". With me and my love for drama and gossip, I had to see what this was about.

And they chattered….well, threw, code words, view points, irrational rationales at each other like dodge balls. Discussing; loudly, but discussing none the less of what to say next, when to say what. Papers being flown, reasons being thought out, predictions being made. High command would quiz and question and field operative would answer.

Before any final decisions could be made of course there was the background check. Examining of other emissaries is done, class room scenarios are calculated.: "How much did he get?" , "What has xyz told the teacher?" , "Who has abc told?" and so on.  At-the-moment-allies and sugar coated enemy camps are called, complex manipulation tactics laced with the sweetest of honeys are then used in seemingly casual conversations which take place to extract any information needed to further measure the situation.

Their own army's position is assessed in an unforgiving war of hierarchy. And like this, the plan of action for the next day is decided.

Its was like being in war bunker with Erwin Rommel and a lot of charts, map, and blueprints!

The Park:

Across the street.

Its funny how something as childish as a park can play a major role for so many people, all from different walks of life. The park just across my building speaks a variety of stories. Some of newly wed couples, some of budding love. Some of healing souls, and some just of the funny events at school.

First a barren ground only of dust and rubble now holds tropical greenery. Fragrant flowers and  lush trees in the midst of which we are able to lose ourselves. Benches that grant us relaxation beyond any spa treatment, and even a little pond that does everything to add to the ecstasy.

The sounds of giggling children, heartily laughing adults echoes through the air, carried gently by the breeze into every surrounding open window.

Although they are nothing  compared to the Amazon, parks have their own little adventures to offer.  Mystic caves formed by hollow tree barks or lazily limping bushes, hidden trials surrounded by enchanted vines and covered in crisp autumn leaves, all ours to explore.

But parks offer their greatest gift in the earliest hours of the morning. One that only the early birds are granted to experience.  The very first rays of the sun carry with them the cool morning breeze. The air is sparkling and scented anew.  The grass and leaves both high and low are carpeted by little liquid diamonds. The morning dew is a gemstone like no other.

Parks aren’t only a play ground for children. They are the diaries in which the world writes its deepest secrets, the shoulders we seek the support of. The park across my apartment is a sanctuary, a reserve for the essence of  the growing life around it.

Bits of Life (with Memon Me)

Bits of Life (with Memon Me)

Decisions, although a part of life,  don’t always matter. Most people say you should focus on your goals. But I believe in bringing life's accessories into focus. Parks, music, movies, even grocery shopping, small dramas and the latest gossip.

Sometimes listening to Frank Sinatra is the hidden goal you really needed to achieve.  Frustrations don’t always have to be dissatisfying. Obstacles don’t always need to be met by aggression. Failure doesn’t mean shutting down. Heart break doesn’t mean depression and stressed is does not spell desserts backwards. Be a drama queen, the excess emotion really shows things in a whole different and brighter light.
